This Restroom Wall Sign with the Active Handicap Symbol is most popularly used in the state of New York. The original handicap symbol used in older restroom signage has been in existence for over 45 years and authorities across the U.S. thought that the original ISA wheelchair symbol used no longer represented people with disabilities. Looking for something more engaging and noticeable from the older wheelchair icon, it was time for a fresh design that depicts an active lifestyle rather than an inactive one. Even though this new style of sign is growing in use across the United States, you should always double check with your local CASp inspector to see if the active wheelchair pictogram is required for your building.
